Jim Jowers began his Masonic career in 1962 at Naval Lodge No. 24 F & AM in Warrington, Florida. While serving in the United States Navy as a Flight Instructor at NAS Ellyson Field, he was initiated an Entered Apprentice on May 23, 1962, passed to Fellowcraft on June 26, 1962 and raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on August 10, 1962. He is also a member of the Valley of Pensacola, Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite. Jim retired from the Navy in 1975 with the rank of Commander, after a 26 year distinguished career. During the Vietnam War, he flew over 200 Combat Rescue mission and his squadron rescued 159 pilots. Unfortunately, he was exposed to Agent Orange that developed into Multiple-Myeloma bone cancer. After a Stem Cell transplant in 2003, he is recovering from the cancer. He is married to Dr. Catherine Jowers (Clinical Psychology), and they have 3-sons who were DeMolays are Masons.
